Empowering the Next Generation of Female Racers

More than Equal is a global motorsport initiative dedicated to dismantling longstanding barriers that have prevented women from reaching the pinnacle of racing—Formula 1. Founded by Grand Prix winner David Coulthard and entrepreneur Karel Komárek, with CEO Tom Stanton at the helm, the program is structured around three areas:

Data-driven research
Talent identification and innovation
World-class female driver development programme

Through research published as the Inside Track report, More than Equal revealed that only 4% of elite motorsport drivers are female. They highlighted systemic hurdles such as insufficient track time, lack of female role models, and financial obstacles, which need to be overcome to pursue success.

Data-Driven Female-First Talent Scouting

The initiative employs an “Olympic-style” identification methodology to scout girls aged 13–14 globally, selecting its first cohort in May 2024. Among them were drivers from Australia, Malaysia, Austria, and the UK, selected using rigorous global benchmarking and psychological profiling. The programme offers tailored technical, tactical, physical, and personal development support.

In partnership with Hintsa Performance and professional race coaches, each athlete receives a holistic training plan that reflects cognitive and gender-specific needs—an approach rarely seen in male-focused talent pipelines.

Cutting-Edge Cognitive & Neuroscience Integration

At its core, More than Equal incorporates state-of-the-art cognitive training methodologies, including integrating NeuroTracker into their driver development programs, a tool used by F1 and top NASCAR drivers. Alongside this they incorporate brain endurance training to enhance situational awareness, reaction time, and mental stamina—crucial for split-second performance on track.

A recent partnership with Avenga announced a platform that is being created to deliver advanced, real-time insights on driver potential using a blend of on-track performance data, physical and cognitive profiling, and psychological assessments. Developed in collaboration with elite engineers and performance experts, the platform aims to make driver development and talent identification more data-led, holistic, and objective, helping remove unconscious bias from a system that has historically favoured visibility over merit.
