Team leader engineer behind 6 of Lewis Hamilton's F1 titles, James Wingfield, reveals the transformative potential of cognitive training for motorsports performance.
James is a professional Formula 1 Engineer and UK race driver. He has been designing engines for WRC, Indycar, Le Mans and Formula 1 since 2003. He joined Mercedes in 2015 as part of the successful team designing the F1 engines for Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes AMG Formula 1 team, winning six F1 drivers and constructors world championships in that time. James' racing career includes single seater racing against the like of Sam Bird and Oliver Turvey in Formula BMW, and later Formula Palmer Audi. More recently he was also won races and scored several podiums in Caterham Racing, currently second in the 2021 championship. Away from the track he fosters a race minded community with James Wingfield Racing, regularly post YouTube videos and discussions to help people improve their own results through driver tips and setup assistance, as well as some tutorials aimed at the rapidly growing pool of home-based simulator racers and general gamers.
